A groundbreaking project to create a £1 million film and give it away to over 1 million people using the Internet and a global community of members

A Swarm of Angels is a truly crowdsourced project – funding and producing using collaborative effort, and with the aim to give away a £1 million pound worth of work to the internet.

Why blog this? Whether we’re seeing the start of a new paradigm in larger film production, new funding models for film, or just an interesting experiment – projects like this are springing up more commonly. This is less of a self organising crowd than projects such as wikipedia, but the structure is setup so that what is put in is giving right back to the people under creative commons licenses, rather than an ‘investor’ model where those who give get back more tangible results. The power law of involvement will still apply here of course, so it will be interesting to see how those on the long tail feel part of the project.
